The global PC market has gone through several years of decline due to the impact of consumer spending on the transfer of tablet computers and smartphones. After Microsoft stopped supporting the Windows XP operating system last year, business users bought new devices for a short time to support the PC market. But after 2015, the PC market became weaker again. Some market analysts believe that this is mainly because consumers wait for Windows 10 and Intel's sixth generation core Skylake processor.

IDC and Gartner said on Thursday that many PC users chose to update the operating system after the release of Windows 10, instead of buying new devices. Gartner also expects Windows 10 to boost sales of PC devices in the fourth quarter. The two companies also indicated that the stronger dollar exchange rate made the average selling price of PC increase in the global market, which also led to a double-digit percentage decline in the PC market in Europe, the Middle East, Japan and Latin America.

IDC and Gartner also say that HP is still the largest PC manufacturer in the US market, with a market share of about 28%. DELL, apple and Lenovo are two to four. Lenovo has achieved a strong growth in the US market in the third quarter, with a share of 20%.
